West Palm Beach Trane Dealer

west palm beach trane dealerEvery Trane product is designed down to every detail and rigorously tested for reliability and durability. While other manufacturers build their products from the same “pool” of parts available to anyone, we make it a point to be uniquely better, innovative and always looking to the future. To do that, we have to design, build, test, and rebuild some of our own parts. We know they work because we push them well beyond the industry standards, making sure they match the reliability people expect when they own a Trane. From the durable Climatuff® compressor to the exclusive Spine Fin™ coil to the revolutionary Hyperion™ air handler – and a number of other patented innovations – when you own a Trane, you’re getting more than reliable comfort and you’re getting it year after year.

TESTED TO EXTREMES

At the SEET lab in Tyler, Texas – which stands for Systems Extreme Environmental Test – Trane products are put through 16 weeks of bone-chilling cold and blistering heat, in repeating two-week sessions. Some units endure over 2,600 hours of continuous testing, including a full week of salt spray to monitor corrosion resistance. Our technicians have tried to break our Climatuff® compressor over 900 ways, which has produced a saying at Trane, if a product doesn’t make it through our test lab it doesn’t get made. By putting our heating and cooling units through 5 years worth of wear and tear in the matter of a few months, we reinforce our philosophy of making products you can rely on for years and years. It’s hard to stop a Trane isn’t just a tagline…it’s been proven.

Tips To Improve Indoor Air Quality And Curb Seasonal Allergies

If you experience allergies, you may be quick to correlate seasonal irritations with outdoor triggers such as ragweed, pollen and mold. However, poor indoor air quality in your own home could be the suspect to blame for runny noses, itchy eyes and in some cases, serious symptoms like respiratory issues, bronchitis and asthma.

The Environmental Protection Agency found in a survey that Americans spend 87% of their lives indoors and that indoor air pollutant levels are up to 100 times higher than levels you may find outside. While it’s alarming to think about how many toxins you are potentially exposed to on a regular basis, there are simple steps you can take to boost the condition of the air you breathe in your home.

Improve indoor air quality
Avoid Smoking Indoors
There is no acceptable level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Smoking indoors one time is enough to pollute the rest of the house, even if you’re in a room with the doors closed.

Vacuum Often
Invest in a durable vacuum and disinfect your carpets regularly to eliminate dust and other pollutants brought in from outside.

Soak Bedding
Wash sheets, pillows and comforters in warm water often to cut down on exposure to dust mites and other allergens.

Crack Windows
Most heating and cooling units recirculate inside air so when weather permits, let fresh air in, if even just for a short time.

Keep a Hygienic Home
Clean your home regularly using non-toxic cleaning supplies.

Discard Unused Chemicals and Paint
Paint outdoors and choose non-toxic adhesive, finishes and varnishes where possible.

Groom Pets
Bathing and brushing your pets regularly will decrease shedding and dander.

Use the Exhaust Fan Over Your Stove
The benefit of an external exhausted range hood is that it pulls out potentially toxic pollutants and gasses from the air in your kitchen.

Use Fans in Bathrooms
Exhaust fans eliminate moisture from the bathroom and reduce fumes from cleaning agents that could potentially cause health issues.

Replace Air Filters
switching out the air filters in your heating and cooling system on a regular basis is crucial to cultivating good indoor air quality in your home.

Clean Air Ducts
Most of the in-home air arrives through ducts as part of your heating and cooling system. Those air ducts can get dirty with microbes, mildew, bacteria and loads of dust and dirt.

Regular duct cleaning can remove built-up debris.
In addition to these essential steps there are several advanced choices for contending with allergy-inducing pollution in your home.
Whole-home central humidifiers keep humidity within one percent of your desired levels throughout your home, creating a healthier environment by lessening dry sinuses, itchy skin and sore throats and keeping wood from deteriorating or warping. They can also curtail the occurrences of bacteria, viruses and respiratory infections. Proper humidification levels are equally important in both hot and cold environments. Too little humidity leaves the body vulnerable to infections whereas too much humidity establishes ideal breeding grounds for mold, mildew and dust mites.

Options for high-efficiency air filtration and cleaners that kill airborne contaminants include High Efficiency Particulate Air Filtration and Germicidal UV Light Systems.

Energy Recovery Ventilation Units bring in the correct amount of outside air which is especially necessary in the fall and winter months ahead.

Edwards Air Conditioning can offer a free home air quality and comfort analysis so you can rest assured that your family is breathing the healthiest air possible.

HOW TO PREP YOUR HOME FOR COOLER FALL TEMPERATURES

Fall Air Conditioning
Now is the time to say goodbye to the hot weather. Some of you may begrudgingly drag your sweatshirts out of storage, while others have spent their time trying to decide which hoodie will go best with your first pumpkin spice latte of the season. Regardless of how fall makes you feel, it’s on its way—and winter is on its heels. Edwards Air Conditioning has a few tips for you that will allow you to enjoy the fall and keep your house cozy until next spring. Along with scheduling your ongoing air conditioner Preventative Maintenance from Edwards Air Conditioning, use this checklist to prepare for the change in season.

Take Care of Your Air Filter.
Your AC worked hard for you through the hot Palm Beach Gardens months. Before you give your AC a vacation for the cooler months, check your air filter and exchange it if it’s dirty. This will help your air conditioner work more efficiently and keep dust and pollutants from moving through your house as the seasons change.

Let Some Fresh Air In.
With the temperatures dropping, open up your windows and give your indoor air quality a boost. The air inside your home can be several times more polluted than outdoor air, so take this time to bring in fresh air before winter’s chill begins.

Be Sure Vents and Registers are Clear.
Sometimes furniture gets rearranged as you switch from outdoor living in the warmer months to being inside more as the days get cooler and shorter. Ensure that none of your vents or registers are blocked as you rearrange. This will make it harder for your HVAC system to perform effectively and could cause an unwelcomed hike in your utility costs.

Check for Air Leaks.
The heat of summer can put wear on weather-stripping. Examine your windows and doors for leaks that could let heated air out of your home this winter. Air leaks are responsible for reducing heating efficiency and increasing your heating bills. Stop leaks by replacing caulking and weather-stripping where needed.

Once this simple checklist is done, you can sit back and take in all the beauty and fun that fall offers. Reach out to Edwards Air Conditioning and we’ll take care of some of this checklist for you. Together, we’ll ensure you head into winter confident about staying warm and cozy. You can reach us at 561-747-5795 or you can conveniently schedule an appointment with us online.

Air Conditioning Hurricane Tips

Here are some helpful tips to help protect your Air Conditioning system during and after a Hurricane.
Air conditioner prep before the storm

Getting your air conditioner ready for a hurricane isn’t super complicated, but it can save you a lot of time, money and frustration later.

Here are 3 things you should to do before the storms arrive:

Secure your AC
Do you have a split AC system with the outside unit on the ground? (Most Florida homeowners do). If so, your air conditioner should be installed on a concrete pad and bolted to the concrete with hurricane straps, as shown in the picture above.

This will help prevent the air conditioner from going airborne during a hurricane or storm.

Protect the AC’s electrical components
Hurricanes and tropical storms cause surges of power through your home. These surges can ruin your air conditioner’s important electrical components. So we highly recommend installing a surge protector for your air conditioner.

Also, turn off the AC before the storm arrives.

Cover the AC unit before the storm
Hurricanes do damage by throwing objects into other objects. So even if your air conditioner is properly secured, it can become damaged from airborne objects during a storm.

Before the storm arrives, cover your air conditioner with a tarp or homemade plywood structure to keep objects from hitting the air conditioner. (Of course, make sure to turn off the AC before covering it!)

These tips should help you minimize damage to your air conditioner during the storm. But there are a few things you should do after the storm as well.

After the storm passes

Before turning on your air conditioner, inspect it and make sure everything’s OK. Running your air conditioner with a problem can make the problem even worse.

After a storm, run through this quick checklist before starting up your AC again:

  • Make sure the air conditioner wasn’t ever underwater.
  • Remove the cover/tarp from the air conditioner.
  • Make sure there are no signs of damage to the unit itself.
  • Remove any debris that accumulated around the air conditioner.
  • Make sure there is no damage to any of the refrigerant and electrical lines running from your AC.

We also recommend getting your AC checked out by a professional (especially if there are any signs of problems). Better to be safe than sorry, after all.

These tips should be combined with your other hurricane preparedness tasks to ensure you still have a working air conditioner after the storm has passed.

So call Edwards Air Conditioning today to make sure your Air Conditioner is prepared or after the storm to check the status of your system after the storm.

BACKED BY EXPERTS

Every manufacturer will say that their products are the best, but when industry experts give a tip of the hat to your work, that’s backing it up with proof. Popular Mechanics dubbed the Trane ComfortLink™ II control as one of The Year’s Most Transformative Products, awarding it their 2010 Breakthrough Award. A Harvard-led, independent research project evaluated the air cleaning performance of several in-duct and portable devices, and found conclusively that Trane CleanEffects™ is the world’s most effective whole-house air filtration system. So, while we’re known for reliable heating and air conditioning, we also seem to be setting the industry standard in smart home and clean air technology, because your home comfort deserves constant innovation.

JUPITER AIR CONDITIONING MAINTENANCE
JUPITER AIR CONDITIONING MAINTENANCE

Quality Air Conditioning Repair Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter

South Florida has a unique quality when it comes to air conditioning repairs. The ultra humid climate creates obstacles for your air conditioning system which are not typical in other areas of the United States.

There are two types of heat that your air conditioning system is tasked with removing from your living space, latent heat and sensible heat. The latent heat is contained in the moisture within your living space and is the most difficult to overcome by your air conditioning system. Sensible heat is the actual temperature reading you see on a thermostat.

Edwards Air Conditioning are experts at sizing your air conditioning system. Sizing properly is critical if you want to maximize comfort in your home. If your air conditioning system is too large you will lower your sensible temperature quickly, but the latent heat will remain. This will cause your air conditioning system to short cycle and you will notice that the air remains humid. When an air conditioning system is properly sized, you will remove the latent heat as well as lower the sensible heat (temperature) in a manner that satisfies your comfort level more accurately. It matters not what brand of air conditioning system you have, whether it’s a Trane, or a Lennox, Goodman or any brand, sizing is critical.

To see if your air conditioning system is properly sized, call Edwards Air Conditioning. We proudly serve Martin and Palm Beach County.

IS IT TIME TO REPAIR OR REPLACE YOUR AIR CONDITIONER?

Check these factors before deciding whether its time to

Replace or Repair your Air Conditioner

air conditioner r-22

A/C pros say you should consider age and the frequency of repairs.

The 5,000 rule

Multiply the age of the equipment by the repair cost, and if that exceeds $5,000, then replace the unit. If less, go ahead and repair it.

Example: A 10-year-old unit with a $350 repair equals $3,500. It’s OK to repair.

Consider the age of your A/C

The age of the heating and cooling unit plays a critical factor in the decision to repair or replace.

Energy efficiency matters

Recent advances in A/C technology have greatly improved energy efficiency. Energy Star recommends upgrading to an energy-efficient unit if your current central air conditioner is 10 or more years old.

R-22 can influence your options

If an A/C unit requires additional refrigerant  — it signals there’s a coolant leak.

Topping off a system with R-22 refrigerant, known as Freon, costs as much as $70 to more than $175 per pound — which may also include the cost of the service call. Fixing the leak and putting in several pounds of refrigerant can cost $550 to $1,000, HVAC pros say.

“A unit that takes R-22 that develops a leak should probably be replaced,” experts says. “Once you get a leak, the compressor (which can cost up to $2,000) will usually go out eventually.”

Repairing a leak, adding refrigerant and replacing a compressor can cost about the same as buying a new, low-end unit.

R-22 prices, meanwhile, have soared in recent years due to the EPA’s eventual phaseout. HVAC manufacturers stopped making units “charged” with R-22 in 2010. Production of R-22 will end 2020.

R-410A, a more environmentally friendly refrigerant, will replace it.

Other factors affecting the repair/replace decision

Aside from the unit’s age, a few other signs can signal it’s time to replace your air conditioner, according to Energy Star. Consider how frequently you make repairs, whether your energy bills are rising or if your home is too hot in the summer.

How long are you going to live in the house, and what are your utilities like? If the unit is older and the repair is a couple hundred dollars, it may not be worth fixing.

If you do buy a new, energy efficient Air Conditioner – which costs $3,900 to $11,200 – Energy Star estimates a 20 percent savings on heating and cooling costs.

On the other hand, some HVAC technicians say if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. If your system shows no leaks and your energy bills are low, Hamlin sees no reason to replace it.

To gauge the condition of your existing A/C, schedule an inspection with an Edwards Air Technician to get a true Diagnosis of your system.

Palm Beach Gardens Air Conditioning Tip: Common Causes of AC Failure

When your Palm Beach Gardens air conditioner stops working you’ll want to have it fixed fast. There are many reasons your air conditioner may fail, and it is helpful to be aware of some of them.

Human Error

It may sound obvious, but check the setting of your air conditioner. It’s always possible that you accidentally set the temperature too high so your air conditioner does not kick in. Make sure that thermostat is set “cool” and that everything is plugged in. Ensuring that these simplest of problems are not the culprit is the best place to start.

Dirty Filters or Ice Build-Up

Low output of cold air could be due to dirty air filters, ice build-up on coils, or air duct problems. Dirty air filters that need to be replaced can weaken airflow.  Ice build-up on the coils can cause major blockages which reduce the amount of cold air output.  If air ducts have become disconnected or have leaks it can cause air to go into unused spaces.

Improper Refrigerant Charge

An AC that does not cool the air properly can be caused by a few things: there could be low refrigerant charge, a refrigerant leak, or a worn out or broken compressor.  With low refrigerant levels or a low refrigerant charge comes a decrease in how much cold air the AC can create.  This can be caused by a slow refrigerant leak or an AC that has not been properly maintained.  If the compressor has worn out or is broken it will also affect how well the air conditioner cools the air, causing the air to still blow but at an undesirable temperature.

Water Leaks

Air conditioners that leak water could have a condensate pump or condensate drain problem. It could also mean that the pool drip pan is full, causing the automatic sensor to turn off the air conditioner to prevent overflow.

We hope that this information is helpful. It’s always good to keep informed, but remember that any maintenance or repairs on your air conditioner should be performed only by professionals.  Call Edwards Air Conditioning  for all your Palm Beach Gardens air conditioning needs.
