SAVE UP TO $500 WHEN YOU BUY A NEW AIR CONDITIONING UNIT

Edwards Air Enterprise  R-22 Refrigerant Buy Back Program

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE R-22 FREON CREDIT PROGRAM?

YOU CAN SAVE UP TO $500

With heightened concerns about ozone depletion and global warming, the use of R-22 is being phased out for use in air conditioners for more environmental friendly Freon products. R-22 also known as hydrochlorofluorocarbon or HCFC is a colorless gas that is used as a propellant and refrigerant. The Environmental Production Agency’s (EPA) apprehensions about the use of this greenhouse gas centers around the continuous demand for more air conditioning units and the negative impact increased consumption of R-22 has on the ozone layer.

Although there has been a concerted shift to more ozone friendly air-conditioning and heating units for years now, some homeowners have been misled into purchasing HVAC systems that still use R-22. This misinformation coupled with phase out mandates to reduce HCFC consumption by 99.5% by 2020 has become a bit of a head scratcher for some residential and commercial consumers.

Edwards Air Enterprise can provide valuable information on important aspects of the phase-out process as well as about servicing issues of R-22 equipment still in use. For instance, we help customers understand how the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program relevant to Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, and the new Climate Action Plan impact them. As such, individuals with current air- conditioning needs will be better able to make an informed decision for acquiring new equipment or refurbishing an existing product.

The US Government wants you to stop using R-22 coolant!!! The cost of new R-22 refrigerant has increased dramatically because this particular refrigerant is being phased out of production by the US EPA. As such, the cost associated with filling our old AC unit with R-22 in more considerably more expensive then replenishing a new unit. The sooner you replace your old air-conditioning unit the sooner you will start saving money.

Other questions we can answer, such as:

  • What to do about the use of components such as line-sets that are in a wall and can’t be replaced
  • How long will servicing be available for R-22 propelled units
  • Can an R-22 system coil be used with an R-410A system; etc

Edwards Air has various procedures in place for addressing those types of issues. For consumers who still have a system that uses R-22, Edwards Air can help you to transition to the newer R-410A model that satisfies the phase-out requirements. We would also like to reassure consumers that the new air-conditioning products are not only environmentally safer but also provide greater energy efficiency benefits. If you are changing from an R22 system, we offer up to $500 credit towards the purchase a (new) Air Conditioning system.
